ARROW Energy has moved a step closer to realising its multi-billion dollar LNG project on Curtis Island.

Arrow has awarded the tender for the concept design of the tunnel, which will transport CSG across The Narrows, from the mainland to the Arrow LNG Plant on Curtis Island.

The 6km tunnel will have a 4m internal diameter, and house a high-pressure gas pipeline and other utility services.

The tunnel's concept will be designed by the Brisbane office of engineering consultancy, Arup.

Excavated about 35m beneath the Gladstone Harbour seabed, the tunnel will begin in the Yarwun area and will exit at Hamilton Point on the southern end of Curtis Island.
