Cyber savvy head to Coast

WITH the vast number of social media seminars on offer on the Sunshine Coast right now, there is no excuse for burying your head, old-school style, in the sand.

Noosa's Kerry Finch, who has organised FastWebFormula3 in Caloundra later this month, says every business needs to have an online presence because that is where clients are looking for them - on the internet.

The October 28 - 30 event will attract hundreds of the world's best social media experts, including internet marketer James Schramko and about a dozen other keynote speakers.

Delegates and presenters are travelling from the US, UK, United Arab Emirates, Asia and NZ to join their Australian colleagues to learn the latest strategies for online business success.

The training event was previously held in Sydney in 2009 and 2010, but Mr Schramko wanted a change this year.

"When looking for a venue we had some very specific requirements," Ms Finch said.

"It needed to be well equipped, and meet our needs for the large numbers attending, and have easy access to a range of accommodation options.

"As soon as I met the team at The Events Centre, Caloundra, I knew it would be perfect for us."

Ms Finch said almost everyone attending FWF3 are spending more time in Queensland.

"Many are designing family holidays around the event, moving down to the Gold Coast afterwards.

"I've encouraged others to come up to Noosa to enjoy all it has to offer, and golf resorts have also been popular add-ons."

Ms Finch said delegates will all be sending thousands of messages to Twitter, Facebook and Google+ as well as uploading videos to YouTube and updating websites and blogs.

"At past events, this has created an amazing buzz throughout the online world," he said.

"Social proof is more powerful than any advertisement or Yellow Pages listing will ever be.

"Wherever the members of this group go during their stay, they will be posting their experiences to Facebook and Twitter.

"Where they eat, what they are eating (and yes, they will take pictures of their food!) who they are with, all will be broadcast to the world."
