Cyclone Yasi contact line set up

QUEENSLAND Police Service (QPS) is encouraging members of the public concerned about family and friends who have been evacuated to contact The Cyclone YASI Evacuation Registration and Evacuation Enquiry Line number on 1300 993 191 rather than contacting local police stations.

The QPS, in coordination with the Red Cross’ National Registration and Inquiry System (NRIS), was activated to register people evacuated due to Cyclone Yasi.

Registrations and inquiries will be answered at the QPS Policelink Contact Centre.

International enquiries for the NRIS can be made at + 61 7 3055 6220.

The National Registration and Inquiry System (NRIS) is a computer based filing and retrieval system, designed to provide families and close friends with basic details on the whereabouts and safety of people affected by major events and disasters.
