POLICE have charged a Harlaxton father with multiple counts of assault after officers found his three-month-old baby injured and covered in blood.
Seven police crews went to Gleeson Crs where a man had allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, their baby boy, and his girlfriend's mother at 7pm on Tuesday.
Police said the 45-year-old grandmother was holding the baby boy when she was attacked by the 24-year-old man.
The man shoved the woman through a window which caused the glass to shatter and cut herself and the baby.
She and the injured baby fell to the ground while the man tried to grab at the child, causing the child to fall onto the floor.
Police said the man's girlfriend, 20, was trying to protect her child and her mother on the ground when he attacked her.
The victims were punched and kneed during the assault.
The women left the residence and carried the child to safety.
The baby had sustained a deep cut to his head and was “covered in blood” when police and paramedics arrived.
Paramedics took him and the grandmother to the Toowoomba Hospital at 7.10pm.
Police arrested the offender at 7.43pm.
He was held in custody overnight and appeared in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday. Police strongly objected to his bail application.
However, he was granted bail with strict conditions including no contact with the victims.
