Damaging spree angers local police

POLICE are making every effort to apprehend those responsible for the spate of graffiti at the weekend.

Various cases of graffiti were reported on Sunday after Saturday night vandals left their mark on cars parked in School Ln, a building in Egerton St and two buildings on Anakie St.

Emerald officer in charge Senior Sergeant Graeme Reeves was “not impressed” with what he described as “senseless type of vandalism”.

He said graffiti didn’t occur often in the Central Highlands.

“The town has suffered enough damage in the floods without having mindless individuals causing damage to people’s property,” he said.

“Every effort will be made to bring them before the court.”
