RUMOURS still abound that David Jones, Ikea and international shopping warehouse Costco are scoping out Toowoomba for future investment.

Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Andrew Wielandt said they would be windfalls for the city.

However, he was not sure if the QIC redevelopment would be the ideal place to cater for them all.

David Jones, certainly, could make good use of the space.

"If we can get businesses like Costco and Ikea, that would be great," he said.

"But I would be surprised if they came to Grand Central because they operate in big boxes.

"I would think they would be more likely to go somewhere like Wilsonton where there's a bit more space."
