Dea and Daz play for keeps on The Block
THE Block veterans Deanne and Darren Jolly showed the newbie teams how it's done on Triple Threat tonight.
The polarising Melbourne couple beat Sky High alumni Matt and Kim and George and Bec to earn the final spot on the renovation show's 10th season.
Judge Darren Palmer was impressed by Dea's choice in seagrass wallpaper.
"It feels like luxury to me," he said.
Neale Whitaker said the room's calm and relaxing feeling made it the room where he wanted to "unpack my bag".
Dea told APN she was nervous going into the elimination.
"We didn't have to do eliminations (in Glasshouse) so that was probably the only thing scaring me," she said.
"After the disappointment of the (Glasshouse) auction and the potential the next Sunday to face being eliminated, I was just really worried about how that was going to be.
"Again we just felt like no guts no glory. You've got to go for it. At least you won't think you didn't have a go."
The newbie teams should be taking note of Dea and Darren's manifestation of the judges' mantra "less is more".
Out of the three newbie teams, Gold Coast parents Ayden and Jess won the $10,000 week one room prize by just half a point.
Dea said the South Yarra apartment block was a very different challenge to the Glasshouse's office building.
"Last time there was a huge big open space and we were starting from scratch building every wall," she said.
"We had a big common areas between all of our apartments, whereas this time we're in four apartments in an old apartment block. We are literally on top of each other.
"There's one entrance point into each of our apartments with a pathway on the side of the building. We're all walking in between scaffolding with all our tradesman and material."
