Demons secure Lever from Adelaide Crows
JAKE Lever is officially a Melbourne player following the completion of a deal with Adelaide.
The Crows will receive two first-round draft picks in exchange for Lever - this year's Pick 10 and the Dees' first selection in next year's 2018 draft - as well as a future fourth-round pick.
In return, the Dees secure Lever, Pick 35 in this year's draft and a future third-round selection.
"We're very happy to complete the deal today with the Adelaide Crows to secure Jake Lever," Melbourne footy boss Josh Mahoney said.
"Jake has been a player we've targeted as a priority during this trade period and this is a great outcome for us.
"Jake will have an immediate impact on our group - on field as an important member of our defence, but also off the field with his professionalism and competitiveness.
"With 56 games to his name, we see Jake as a long-term player at the Melbourne footy club."
Lever controversially requested a trade to Melbourne just days after Adelaide's grand final loss.
He did not attend the club's best and fairest, with Crows skipper Taylor Walker among those upset at his decision to leave the club.
Walker said earlier this week he felt Lever had chosen "money over success" by joining the Demons.
Lever, 21, played 56 games for Adelaide after joining the club via Pick 14 in the 2014 national draft.
