I AM going to make a statement that many will jump for joy when they hear it, I believe that having desserts can help you lose weight.
Yes, that's right if you have a sweet tooth you will definitely benefit on your weightloss journey if you include dessert. CHOCOLATE BERRY PROFITEROLES
RECIPE FROM SYMPLY TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE BOOK 5
2 tablespoons (30g) Flora Light® margarine
½ cup boiling water
1 teaspoon sugar
½ cup plain flour
1 egg white
1 whole egg
¾ cup skim milk
1½ tablespoons custard powder
1½ tablespoons sugar
¼ teaspoon vanilla essence
¾ cup (90g) frozen mixed berries
8 squares (32g) dark cooking chocolate
⅓ cup skim milk
¾ teaspoon cornflour
Preheat oven 210ºC fan forced
To make profiteroles: In a medium sized saucepan combine margarine, water and sugar. Bring to boil, stir occasionally. Add flour in one go, stir vigorously with wooden spoon until mixture comes completely together and forms a ball. Remove and place in a medium sized mixing bowl, allow to cool for 2 minutes. In a small mixing bowl beat egg white and whole egg together using a fork. Slowly beat the eggs into mixture using an electric beater until it forms a smooth shiny dough. Coat a baking tray with cooking spray then spoon a dessertspoon of mixture onto tray. Makes 12 balls. Bake 10 minutes on 210ºC then reduce oven to 180ºC for 20 minutes or until balls are golden brown. Leave to cool.
To make custard: Place all custard ingredients except berries into a small saucepan, stir continuously using a whisk until custard boils. Leave to cool. Fold berries gently through custard.
To make chocolate sauce: Place all chocolate sauce ingredients into a small saucepan. Cook on a slow heat until mixture boils, simmer for 1 minute, stir continuously. Leave to cool.
To prepare chocolate profiteroles: Once all ingredients have cooled, cut balls in half using a sharp knife. Spoon custard filling into the bottom half of each ball, then top with other half. Spoon an even amount of chocolate sauce over each one. Refrigerate.
FOR A QUICK CHOCOLATE TOPPING REPLACE CHOCOLATE SAUCE WITH 6 TEASPOONS NUTELLA (ONE HALF TEASPOON PER BALL).
