Developers talk up racing track’s potential
THE racing track that will form the linchpin of Bollier Park's $50 million quarter horse development should be ready for action by the end of this year.
Developers of the ambitious Mary Valley project have said in their January enewsletter they anticipate construction of the facility will be "well underway by the end of this year" and "ideally, the actual track completed".
"There have been inquiries about track access and even early agistment on site, and we will endeavour to accommodate these requests if possible as we understand the importance of being able to establish horse training operations," the newsletter states.
"We will also have finalised the rules of racing well before the year's end, and have these circulated through the Australian Quarter Horse Racing Development website.
"Additionally we will have also circulated the first year's calendar of racing with prize money and awards clearly outlined."
Over the next few months, the developers will also be negotiating to finalise the
wagering structure which it hopes will see Mary Valley quarter horse racing beamed worldwide.
"While we anticipate followers from all parts of the world, discussions at this point are focussing in particular on Asia and Europe wagering," they say.
"Approaches continue from various players within the USA racing industry who see the new industry as a great time to make a move and join the adventure.
"Trainers, jockeys, breeders and even racing operators are contacting us here to explore how they may become involved.
"Over the years AQHRD have been in close communications with the AQHA in the USA, and discussions in the coming year will become more detailed and look at how we can link racing in Australia directly with racing in the USA. There are some interesting proposals on the table and these will continue to be discussed."
