Diamonds fit and ready to fire in Super Netball

NETBALL: Australian coach Lisa Alexander said she is delivering all her players back to their clubs fit, healthy and injury free ahead of the start of Super Netball on February 18.

Alexander admitted at the start of the Quad Series she felt pressure to keep players injury free during the early season tour which concluded on Monday with the Diamonds thrilling 47-46 victory over an improved England.

The Australia coach said she had made promises to club coaches prior to touring that their charges would continue pre-season work alongside their Diamonds-specific commitments.

"I am thrilled to say, yes, in general, they are all good. It has been a testament to our staff and I cannot thank them enough,'' Alexander said from England after the Diamonds retained the Quad Series with wins against England, South Africa and New Zealand in South Africa and England over the past 10 days.

Barring major travel delays, players will be back with their clubs at least eight days prior to their first matches of the new Super Netball competition which kicks off with a local derby between the Swifts and the Giants on February 18 in Sydney, and continues with the Queensland Firebirds taking on new Queensland rival the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
