HOLDEN'S long-standing Korean-built Barina hatchback and sedan are now in run-out and offer significant discounts.

Best saving is on the five-speed manual 1.6-litre three-door hatch – stock is limited but those that remain are now $12,990 drive-away, a saving of $4,624.

Free 15-inch alloy wheels and anti-lock brakes, normally an $1190 option, take the saving to over $5800. Four-speed automatic transmission adds $2000, prestige paint a further $400 across all models.

The five-speed manual 1.6-litre five-door hatchback Barina with the same free options saves just over $5300. Pay $14,990 drive-away. Again, automatic transmission adds $2000.

The 1.6-litre Barina sedan, again with the same free options, saves just over $500. Pay $16,790 drive-away for the five-speed manual, $18,790 for the four-speed automatic.

Standard equipment on the three and five-door Barina hatchbacks and the four-door sedan includes four-airbags, air-conditioning, remote central locking, a six-speaker CD player with MP3 compatibility, a multi-function steering wheel and body-colour bumpers, door handles and mirrors.

Launched in late 2005 the current Daewoo Kalos-based TK Barina will be replaced mid-year by the all-new TL series based on the Mark 2 Chevrolet Aveo, which made its debut at last September’s Paris Motor Show.

However, unlike the current model it will only come as a five-door hatch with the 1.2-litre MJ Barina Spark launched late last year stepping in at the lower price level.

The new TL Holden Barina will also offer the option of a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Barina sales last year increased by over 22 per cent on 2009 to become the sixth best-seller in a light car marketplace with around 19 models on offer.
