Dramatic arrest of armed man in town's CBD

DRAMATIC scenes unfolded in the CBD of a Darling Downs town when a man was arrested carrying a knife.

The incident took place outside Dalby Shoppingworld on Tuesday afternoon.

Police had been searching for the 31-year-old man after receiving a call that he had threatened his mother.

The man was said to have behaved erratically on Cunningham St before being arrested and taken to Dalby Watch house at 4pm that afternoon.

It took four police officers to arrest the man and place him in the paddywagon.

He was released on bail that night at 8.30pm.

The man was charged with public nuisance and possessing a knife in a public place. He will appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on May 24.
