Drive by shooting claims life of 44-year-old-man

AS GANG squad detectives investigating five drive-by shootings in Sydney closed in on two alleged perpetrators, another public shooting claimed the life of a man in a busy Sydney street on Tuesday night.

Crime tape continues to surround the grisly murder scene where a man, who was reportedly well-known to police, was gunned down at Petersham.

The 44-year-old died at the scene.

In the western suburbs, two member of the Brothers for Life street gang were charged over two drive-by shootings late last year.

In one of the shootings, a 13-year-old girl was hospitalised after being caught in the cross-fire.

The accused men, aged 18 and 25, have been refused bail.

Investigations into the Petersham shooting are continuing.
