Driver checked after ute hits cow

A UTE driver has been cleared of injuries after hitting a cow at Tarampa, north-west of Ipswich, early this morning.

The collision was reported on the intersection of Lowood-Minden Rd and Schulz Rd about 4.40am.

The cow was killed and one lane of the road was closed while paramedics checked the driver for injuries.

The vehicle was badly damaged and has been towed from the scene.

Police cleared the area about 6am.
