Driver crashes into fish and chips shop

A WOMAN was lucky to escape injury after she crashed into a fish and chips shop on Brisbane Rd, Newtown.

Police were called to the crash about 3.30pm yesterday after the car came off the road and crashed into the takeaway shop.

No major injuries were reported and the driver spoke to police at the scene, but she was taken to Ipswich Hospital for observation.

The major road was closed after the crash.
