Power pole crash leaves Coast homes without power

UPDATE: A man has been taken to hospital after his car smashed into a pole, leaving homes in three Sunshine Coast suburbs without power. 

The man was driving along Zgrejewski Rd at Yandina Creek just before 6.45am when he crashed into the power pole. 

He was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, suffering neck and chest pain. 

Meanwhile, Energex workers reported the power pole had been damaged, with 176 homes left without power as a result.

Homes in Yandina Creek have been worst affected with 163 outages, while nine properties in Coolum Beach and four in Verrierdale are without power. 

Energex is working towards restoring power by 1pm today. 

BREAKING: Paramedics are on their way to the scene of a single-vehicle crash, after the driver reportedly smashed into a pole.

Emergency crews were called to the crash on Zgrejewski Rd at Yandina Creek about 6.45am.

One patient is suffering neck and chest pain, the 000 caller reported.
