Driver ram raids Maroochy Hotel for cigarette machine

POLICE are investigating after a car was driven through the front doors of a Maroochydore Hotel and an attempt was made to steal a cigarette machine around 3am this morning.

Initial information suggests when the car attempted to drive away towing the cigarette machine it detached on Denna St.

A security officer attending the Hotel had their car rammed by the offenders before driving off.

The security officer was not injured.

Police located the vehicle used in the burglary on fire at Mudjimba a short time later.

Police investigations are continuing.
