AN Emerald couple will face court on drug charges after CIB detectives seized $40,000 cash and 1.5kg of cannabis last week.
Officer-in-charge Detective Sergeant Mick Polit said Emerald CIB officers and the state drug squad carried out Operation Bridle last Friday.
Eight search warrants were executed at locations in Emerald and the Gemfields, resulting in 32 charges against nine alleged offenders.
Det Sgt Polit said the operation, sparked by information from the public, resulted in $24,000 worth of drugs being seized, including 1.75kg of cannabis and quantities of steroids and amphetamines.
The couple was the subject of three search warrants – one at an Emerald residence and two at Gemfields’ properties – where the cash, drugs, steroids and $8000 worth of hydroponic equipment were found.
They have been charged with two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils and things used in the commission of a crime.
Det Sgt Polit praised the public for the tip-offs and encouraged the community to continue to report any drug-related information to the Emerald CIB on 4983 8124 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
