Drunk man assaults two policewomen

TWO policewomen were physically assaulted by a drunk man during an arrest at a unit on the Fraser Coast.

Police were at the property after reports of a disturbance at 6.30pm on Tuesday.

When the two policewomen went inside to speak to the man he became angry and then started challenging the officers.

The 40-year-old was given warnings by police but then he became very aggressive towards the officers.

During his arrest a scuffle started and he lashed out at the policewomen pushing one into the wall.

One of the officers suffered scratches to her elbow and arm and the other scratches and bruises.

The man was taken to the watch house and will face court on September 22 with four charges.
