Dust off your old b'maids dresses

THE phrase most commonly heard by any bridesmaid is “and the best thing is you can wear it again”!

For six-time bridesmaid Tanya Liddell it was the fact she wasn’t going to be able to wear her bridesmaid dresses again that she came up with the idea for a Bridesmaid Ball for Breast Cancer.

Ladies can wear a previous bridesmaid, wedding or formal dress and donate the money that would have been spent on buying a new dress.

“I had three weddings three weekends in a row and I was a bridesmaid for two of them,” the Oaky Creek event co-ordinator explained. “I was discussing with my husband that I had two extra dresses never to be worn again.

“I thought to myself it would be great to have an event to wear the dresses.”

A few weeks later a good friend of Tanya’s was diagnosed with breast cancer and Tanya wanted to help.

“I wanted to help and support her,” she said. “I combined the ideas and came up with the Bridesmaid Ball.

“Not only is it a chance to wear the dresses again, but the money spent to buy a new dress goes to the Cancer Council Queensland,” she said.
