Effort reaps rewards

THEY say preparation is everything and for four Emerald athletes, the Primary Schools Capricornia Athletics Trials in Rockhampton was the perfect staging ground.

In their sights was the Queensland State Titles in Brisbane with all turning on their best performances to challenge for selection.

Arnica Cave was on fire in Rockhampton, producing a personal best time in the 100m before going on to compete at state level in discus.

Riley McLean starred in a number of track and field events in Rockhampton, and represented the state in Brisbane in the multi-event consisting of 100m, 800m, shot put and long jump.

Nicole Burley also competed in long jump, discus and the multi-event in Rockhampton, together with Callahan Howard in the 100m and 200m.
