Elderly woman dies after fire engulfs her home

AN elderly woman has died after a fire engulfed her home in the Gold Coast suburb of Arundel.

Police and emergency services were called to the Central St fire at 8.30pm on Monday.

 

 

 

When they arrived, the house was "fully engulfed" with flames, according to police, and a woman was "unaccounted for".

A crime scene has now been declared.

Police and fire investigators will be examining the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
