Voice star Sophie Phillis backed by Emerald community
AS TV's The Voice enters the Battle Round, Emerald's Sophie Phillis has the backing of all the staff at Le Porte Rosse.
Before she was discovered by Delta Goodrem for her team, Sophie was first noticed by Le Porte Rosse owner Brian Collis about two years ago.
"Sophie has been singing with us since she was pregnant," Brian said.
"She used to sing at the Char House once a week but once we opened here she became our resident singer.
"We are really excited for her and really happy for her."
He said Le Porte Rosse held a special work party to watch Sophie's debut on The Voice when she sang Beautiful Disaster by Kelly Clarkson.
"I hope she gets in for her but we also hope she stays in Emerald so we can all hear her," he said.
For all the locals who would love the chance to hear a live performance from Sophie, Brian said she sings at the Italian restaurant about two to four times a week.
"She'll be singing Friday night and Sunday breakfast," he said.
