Emerald cut off from airport

PASSENGERS travelling to Emerald are advised to change their travel plans as the airport has been cut off from the main township.

Central Highlands Regional Mayor Peter Maguire urged passengers who can avoid travelling to Emerald to do so until the flood water subside enough for access from either side of town.

Passengers planning on travelling outside of Emerald won't be able to reach the airport unless they are already on the eastern side of the town.

The Local Disaster Management Group is monitoring incoming passengers from QantasLink services throughout today and tomorrow and if the majority of passengers have to be accommodated in emergency accommodation the LMDG will have no choice but to ask for services to be cancelled.
