EMERALD’S Judy McDonald is an earth angel with a mission.
She was the ambassador for Angel Flight’s Trailblazer four-wheel drive team challenge in 2010 and is passionate about promoting the charity that coordinates non-emergency flights for financially and medically needy people across the Central Highlands and beyond.
“I was really shocked and honoured,” said Judy, who took over from the 2009 ambassador Monique Rayment, the daughter of Member for Gregory, Vaughan Johnson.
And she was lost for words when her name was called for her outstanding contribution, not only throughout the challenge, but for her Angel Flight fundraising efforts this year.
“When Judy was named ambassador she said to me, now I know how you felt last year,” Ms Rayment said.
“You feel like an angel, it’s really a floating feeling to be called the Angel Flight ambassador.
“The AF people are marvellous… we don’t realise how lucky we are, and you have a marvellous time being the ambassador.”
Judy was part of the 11-strong Central Highlands Outback Trailblazer contingent last month.
The region was represented by four teams – the Virgin Rock Virgins, Springsure Boomerangs, Fugitives and Central Highlanders.
