Tornado sighting shocks SEQ as more storms loom

A DRAMATIC image of a tornado appearing to form in Upper Caboolture has shocked south-east Queenslanders as more storms are predicted to strike before the weekend.

Marinka Spence posted the image, showing the grey-purple clouds ominously swirling above grassy fields to a storm chasing page on Facebook.

"This was rotating for a good two minutes," she wrote.

"And I had to bolt before it swallowed me lol".

The apparent tornado left a short path of destruction after touching down, with Megan Cathro telling Marinka, "It actually touched down just near the little church".

"It made a path of destruction for about 500m.

"Ripped the patio off a house and picked up a trampoline and dropped it in a paddock about 200m from where it was.

"I was stopped at the corner shop cause I couldn't see for the heavy rain. Definitely scary."

Ms Cathro said the damage was visible on Caboolture River Road where tree branches were brought down.

The Bureau of Meteorology is warning more storms may reach SEQ this afternoon.
