Ensham mine gets shake-up

IDEMITSU Australia Resources and its subsidiary Bligh Coal Limited have reached agreement with their partner LG International to restructure the Ensham joint venture from December 1.

IAR manager director Koji Arai said IAR would become operator and undertake all management, administrations and marketing activities related to the open cut operation east of Emerald.

"The restructure will enable IAR to operate its coal mines and projects in Australia more efficiently and strategically, providing benefit to its operations and its partner in Ensham," Mr Arai said.

Ensham Resources chief executive Peter Weserhuis will continue his involvement with Ensham and become an executive director of IAR.
