Shades of pink add colour to game

Under-6s

TIGERS under-6s looked every bit the part in their pink socks for the McGrath Foundation Women in League round.

Thanks to families that could travel out to Alpha for a great morning and the Giants for providing a player for Tigers. Lincoln Beames and Karaitiana Fangatua both scored doubles for Emerald, with Tyson our additional player scoring five. Well done to Max Mellin and Hayden Mann for his first game.

BLACKWATER Crushers under-6s travelled to Rolleston to play Springsure in what was a very entertaining match with some great tries scored by the Blackwater outfit. Captain and Man of the Match Brody Sonter was one of the best, running over for two tries. Players’ Player Josh Fursman scored his first ever try and Jayden Little scored a great try after receiving a nice offload from Rylee Flint. Other try-scorers were Julius Malone, Bhodie Stitt and Jacob Mathewson. Lewis Fursman, Bailey Webber, Kai Ellis, and Harry Clauge kept the pressure on Springsure with some great runs and solid defence.

Under-7s

CRUSHERS travelled to Rolleston to take on Springsure. Crushers’ numbers were depleted with the start of the holidays but the small team tried valiantly throughout. Connor McKenzie was outstanding in defence while the broken play running of Preston Byrnes was always a handful to contain. Several under-6s played up a grade to make up the numbers with Julius Malone being among the best of them. Man of the Match Conner Webber stood out, never giving in and was justly rewarded with a number of late tries for Blackwater.

Under-8s

TIGERS’ Alpha game saw a combined 7-8 years team take the field. All the boys were said to have grown in confidence throughout the year. Tigers’ Man of the Match for this round went to Jacob Cousins, with tries awarded to Braythe Moore and Jakory Blanco. Tommy Bridgemand and Lochie Nixon scored doubles. Great defence shown by Kaiden Renwick and Rohan Mann. The team played strongly and just like their under-6 counterparts, looked striking in the McGrath Foundations pink socks.

BROTEHRS White under-8s played a fast-paced game against the mighty Dysart Bulls. The Brothers coach highlighted that the team must secure their passes and improve ball security to lift for next week. Some good passages of play were shown for Emerald, with several thundering hit-ups by Bailey Lewin and Caleb Pollard. Top tacklers for Brothers included Kelly Murphy, Hugh O’Regan and Kody Hall. Hall went over for two tries, backed up well by Noah Hartley with one.

Under-10s

BROTHERS White under-10 had a great game against Dysart at the weekend, despite the shortage on team numbers. Special thanks to Caleb Pollard, Noah Hartley and Kody Hall who stepped up from under-8s to play. Top tacklers for Brothers included Ben Nucifora, Jhye Hughes, Jordan McInerney.
