Logies return to Glitter Strip with date switch

THE TV WEEK Logies will return to the Gold Coast for a third year running in November 2021.

Tourism officials have labelled the Gold Coast as the "place to be" for the awards show after the announcement was made on Monday morning.

It's the third time the Logies have been held on the Glitter Strip, having been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The Gold Coast first poached the high-profile night celebrating the best of Australian small screen talent for 2018 and 2019. It was held at Star Gold Coast to rave reviews.

Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said: "Having Australia's highest profile television identities here for the Logies means the Gold Coast's best holiday experiences will be splashed across the social media channels of our most loved stars.

"That's exposure and endorsement money can't buy.

"Hosting the Logies on the Gold Coast not only demonstrates Queensland is the place to be for TV and movie production, but also job-creating world-class holiday experiences."

The 2021 Logies will be held on November 28.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the event brought "tens of millions" in publicity value.

"Ensuring events like this are able to go ahead is an important part of our economic recovery because we know that great exposure for our destinations helps to generate millions of dollars for our economy and support local jobs," she said.

"Tens of millions in publicity value for our state, as well as priceless opportunities to show high-profile industry stakeholders what we have to offer in Queensland."
