Facebook attack unnerves pollie

A COMPUTER hacker has created a fake profile of Greens candidate Dr Patricia Petersen on a social network site and used it to vilify her “friends”.

The hacker created a profile on Facebook this week under the name “Patricia Peterson” which used the Greens candidate’s own profile photo.

The sophisticated hacker then stole Dr Petersen’s “friends” and wrote abusive messages on their Facebook walls including threats to harm and insults such as “You’re a slut”.

The matter is being investigated by the Queensland Major Fraud Investigation Group.

Dr Petersen said despite the juvenile nature of the action, police informed her it was a sophisticated hack.

“The person has stolen my friends without consent, as the people who are friends with the fake profile did not agree to be so,” she said.

“Its a very complicated and technical attack and one which I am devastated by because some people I care for have found very disturbing messages on their Facebook site.

“I just want people to know that is not me making those comments.

“I believe the attack to be of a political nature but I have no evidence for it at this stage.”

This is the second time a person has hacked Patricia Peterson’s Facebook account.

Last month the former rival to Tony Abbott in his electorate of Manly had several pornographic pictures uploaded to her page which were then witnessed by many of her 3200 friends.
