Facebook sparks Drayton Park brawl

POLICE were called to control a group of up to 30 youths who were filming themselves fighting at Drayton Park.

Police crews got word of the trouble and rushed to Ernest Peak Park, at the intersection of Gipps and Ball Sts, at 5.50pm on Tuesday.

It was first reported that 40 juveniles were brawling, but police estimated there were 30 youths in the park when they got there.

Officers viewed video footage on a youth's phone which showed the groups had also been fighting in the park earlier that day.

It is believed the fights were connected to messages on Facebook.

Police arrested a 15-year-old girl and charged her with committing a public nuisance offence.

No assault complaints were made and paramedics were not required.

Emergency services arrived at a two-vehicle crash 20 minutes later in Harristown to find the car drivers had become involved in a physical fight.

A 23-year-old drink-driver crashed into a stationary car on Dunne St, near the intersection of West St.

He was arrested and charged with drink-driving.
