Family’s sad tribute to Shandee
THREE months ago 23-year-old Shandee Blackburn was murdered while walking home from work.
It was an emotional time on Saturday when her mother Vicki, sister Shannah and about 40 other people walked the same path Shandee took on the night of her murder.
They started at Harrup Park, where Shandee worked, and walked to Boddington St, where she was killed in the early hours of Saturday, February 9.
Ms Blackburn said she had wanted to mark the three-month point with friends and family.
"This one was just for us to acknowledge how we're feeling at this point in time, and being the Mother's Day weekend we didn't want to feel it was a big event," she said.
"It's not something that I've gotten used to yet; it's still surreal to a certain extent and frustrating in a lot of ways ... Just to learn to live without a member of your family who was as vibrant as Shandee was."
Shandee's killer is yet to be caught, and Ms Blackburn is urging people to come forward with any information.
"We're still hearing bits and pieces that haven't been reported to Crime Stoppers. Please keep coming forward if you hear anything or see anything - it may not have happened that night, it may have been something before."
The Blackburns have raised more than $2000 by giving out wristbands for donations.
