Fans pick up on crazy Survivor detail

WHEN the 2017 season of Australian Survivor debuted back in July, fans of the show would've been forgiven for discounting Perth mining technician Luke Toki, 30, as a serious contender.

An affable funnyman with a serious love of food, the father of two has made for enjoyable viewing - but at times seemed more focused on pranks like eating the camp's dwindling food supplies than making a serious play to take out the competition's $500,000 prize.

20-odd episodes later, Toki's emerged as one of the surprise powerhouses of the season - as evidenced by one detail eagle-eyed fans of the show are losing their minds over.

Twice now, Toki has sent a rival packing - and in the process, has somehow managed to get his hands on their most recognisable item of clothing (Survivor contestants are lucky to come onto the show with more than a single change of clothes).

First, he orchestrated the tribe vote against Aaron "AK" Knight, blindsiding the South Australian wedding DJ who left tribal council in tears after host Jonathan LaPaglia snuffed his torch.

With Knight gone, Toki quickly adopted his former campmate's dusty pink singlet top.

Then last week, labourer Henry Nicholson was voted out in a blindside so cunning he didn't even think to use the immunity idol he had in his pocket.

Off he went - and the next day, Toki was sporting the distinctive flamingo-patterned shirt Nicholson had for some reason not packed.

It's an audacious display of power, and some viewers can't quite believe Toki's getting away with it.

Some viewers noted his clothes-stealing started even earlier in the season, when he nabbed Keith's shirt after the 51-year-old Chief Financial Officer was voted out of the show. That wardrobe raid wasn't quite so savage, though, because Toki at least hadn't contributed to the vote to evict Keith.

Luke helped to vote model Sarah out in last night's episode - tune in tonight to see if he's rocking any of her bikini tops around camp.

Australian Survivor continues tonight at 7.30pm on Ten.
