Fashionistas show off at Splendour in the Grass

LESS was more at Splendour in the Grass as festival-goers enjoyed summer-like temperatures over the weekend.

Looking more like a summer festival than a winter one; shorts, leotards and bikini tops were out in force but they were not the smallest garments worn.

One of the new fashion trends at this year's festival was see-through garments either a bra or gaffer tape covering the most sensitive areas.

Glitter was everywhere, literally, as the most diverse accessory.

Men and women wore glitter in their hair and on their faces and bodies thanks to free stalls supplying and applying the sparkles.

"I forget it's even on," Tim Pocock said of his pink glitter beard and green glittery eyebrows.

Metallic tattoos continue to be a festival staple, as does the bohemian look.

One truly novel accessory was a $6 lampshade from an op shop which Amberly Nelson, from Melbourne, fashioned into a hat.

"Someone just offered me $100 for it, but I'm not selling it; it's original," she told APN.

"I'm pretty confident in who I am and I want to express who I am especially at a festival. For my fourth year (at Splendour) in a row I wanted to try something else. I stumped across this (lampshade) and I thought I would rock it."
