Federici playing for keeps with the Socceroos

BOURNEMOUTH'S Adam Federici says he is up to the challenge of meeting Australia's traditionally high goalkeeping standards when he lines up in the World Cup qualifier against Jordan in Amman tomorrow morning.

First-choice keeper Mat Ryan is out with a knee injury, opening the door for Federici to notch up his 13th international cap.

With a clean sheet, Federici could all but put the Socceroos on their way to the next round of qualifiers.

"It (Australia's goalkeeping) has always been very strong through the years, as long as I can remember anyway," said Federici, the No.2 keeper at the English Premier League club.

Federici, 30, kept a clean sheet in both of the recent qualifiers against Bangladesh and Tajikistan.

Australia's last clash against Jordan in Amman saw the hosts run out 2-1 winners in a World Cup qualifier in September 2012.
