A 41-YEAR-OLD Sunshine Coast man was undergoing surgery last night after his finger was partially bitten off in a fight at Mooloolaba.
Tourists were confronted with two blood-soaked men struggling out the front of Barbican apartments in Burnett Street about 9am.
The man and a 39-year-old man, also from the Sunshine Coast, were involved.
The Daily understands police had to use capsicum spray to separate both men.
Witnesses said two officers pinned the younger man to the grass after the fight.
“They ordered him to stay on the ground and then about three more vehicles turned up,” 16-year-old New Zealand visitor Tom said.
The bald and bloody-nosed injured man was led away by officers in blue gloves.
His adult son is believed to have seen the incident.
The alleged biter shouted repeatedly from the back of the police wagon.
Both men were arrested and charged with obstructing police.
The 41-year-old was taken to Nambour General Hospital where he remained in a stable condition.
The 39-year-old man was charged with public nuisance.
He will appear at Maroochydore Magistrates Court on August 24.
A police spokeswoman said the injured man was yet to make an official complaint late yesterday.
