Firebirds duo sign up for another year

FIREBIRDS duo Kim Ravaillion and Gabi Simpson have both received some good news ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, starting July 23, with the two agreeing to play on in purple next year.

Best mates and roomies, the two youngest members of the Queensland outfit will head to Glasgow next week as part of the Australian team set-up.

Centre Ravaillion is part of the squad and defender Simpson will join her as a training partner. Both moved to Queensland in 2013 and have experienced heartache in two consecutive grand-final losses.

"I am very excited to be joining the Firebirds again and also looking forward to coming back with Gabi and going one better than the last two years," Ravaillion said.

Australia is looking to break its drought in Glasgow after not winning gold at the Commonwealth Games since 2002.
