Fires blaze in south-west Queensland

A FIREBOMBER plane has been called to assist ground crews battling a large blaze burning on a south-west Queensland property.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said the plane began dropping water on a grass fire at Norley Station, about 130km south of Quilpie, shortly after 11.30am yesterday.

It was called to action after the fire came dangerously close to a large bore and a home.

The spokeswoman said crews were today busy monitoring numerous fires across the south-west region, the most easterly of which being at Kogan, on the Western Downs.
