WEST Australian Naomi Lee Fischer-Rasmussen added a feminine touch to her women's boxing historic Olympic debut - she was one of two fighters to wear a skirt.

But it was a case of history and no victory for Australia's lone representative in the women's competition. The 28-year-old lost her four-round middleweight bout 24-17 to Sweden's Anna Laurell.

The result was no real surprise as Fischer-Rasmussen was trying to punch above her weight ... literally.

Weighing in at just 69.3kg, Fischer-Rasmussen normally fights in the under 66kg category. But with only three divisions (flyweight, lightweight and middleweight) at the Games, she was forced to step up to 69-75kg. Her opponent also had more than 100 bouts and was a two-time world champion.

As for her skirt, Fischer-Rasmussen said she wasn't fighting for women's lib.

"I wanted to look feminine in the ring because we are females at the end of the day," she said. Light welterweight Jeff Horn is the lone Aussie left now and faces Ukrainian Denys Berinchyk at 7.15am (AEST) Thursday.
