Flooding in Russia kills over 130

EMERGENCY warning times before floods and landslides that killed more than 130 people in Russia on Saturday will be investigated, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered on Sunday.

President Putin visited Russia's Krasnodar region on Sunday, meeting with government officials and locals in the heavily affected town of Krymsk.

Interfax news agency reported some two months worth of rain fell in the region in only a few hours, forcing residents to take refuge on roofs and in trees.

During his visit, President Putin announced there would be a full investigation into whether the local authorities had warned residents too late or not.

Interfax reported the flooding damaged thousands of homes, stalled railways and roads and halted oil and grain exports in the Black Sea.
