Jim joins the political race

FORMER Fitzroy MP Jim Pearce has announced a surprise comeback to the State political arena.

Mr Pearce is seeking ALP endorsement to contest the seat of Mirani, currently held by the LNP’s Ted Malone.

The 63-year-old, who had a well-publicised battle with depression, represented the towns of Blackwater and Duaringa for two decades before standing down in 2008.

His zest for political life was renewed when he took up the fight for Golden Triangle farmers and then joined the CFMEU as a community advocate for towns trying to stave off the threat of being over-run by FIFO workers.
