Free breast cancer screening

BREASTSCREEN Queensland Rockhampton Service will provide free breast cancer screening at Emerald Hospital from January 10 to February 16, 2012.

All eligible women are encouraged to take advantage of this free service while it is in Emerald and to join the BreastScreen Queensland Program.

Service clinical director Dr Lea Kleinschmidt said it was especially important for women over 50 to have regular, two-yearly breastscreens, as the risk of breast cancer increases as women get older.

Women in their forties and over 70 are also eligible to attend the free service.

Appointments are available now with no GP referral required. Phone 13 20 50.
