Fulfilling big dreams

JADE Kelly is the guest at the Disability Action Week celebrations which kick off at the PCYC Party in the Park on Sunday.

There is plenty planned throughout the week including visits to primary and high schools in Springsure, Emerald and Blackwater for activities.

Jade is formerly from Capella and attended Emerald North State School.

Jade is blind but hasn't let that stop her from fulfilling her dreams, completing two-thirds of senior schooling over three years in 2011.

"It doesn't really matter whether you have a disability, nothing stops you from doing what you want," Jade said.

Known for her positive attitude, Jade will be sharing stories throughout the week about her passion for horse riding.

Grandma Jenny Bowerman said Jade had been riding horses for eight to nine months after she wanted to find a fun way of exercising.

"She found Riding for the Disabled and Jade went along and just loves it," Jenny said.

Disability Action Week celebrations will culminate in the Gemfields Riding for Disabled family day at Roy Day Park on Saturday, September 15.

The day's activities include pony rides and start at 9am.
