Fun day raises awareness
JOIN the Dingo community for a family fun day raising money and awareness for diabetes.
The event was originally conceived by Kim-Marie Brown when her daughter Grace was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2015.
Close friend of the family, Kaitlin Rogers said Kim was a big believer in doing anything she could to help.
"She was a big ideas person which is why last year she came up with the idea to run an event to raise money for Diabetes Queensland,” she said.
"I was always going to organise it for her while she was in Brisbane after being diagnosed in January.
"But I never thought I would really have to be doing this without her. Her input was my biggest support, I always needed it so I knew I was on the right track.
With many unanswered questions still sitting in my head I thought...I can not, not run it. Kim would want me to because if she was here.”
Kaitlin said the event is free and includes something for the whole family.
"There will be games for the children and a few fun games for the adults later on, including golf chipping and an iron man challenge,” she said.
But the fun won't stop there with a jumping castle and face paining for the kids, a twilight market hosting over 30 stalls and a multi draw raffle with over 40 prizes up for grabs.
A bar and a canteen will be running throughout the event as well as a BBQ dinner available in the evening.
Dingo Family Fun Day for Diabetes will be held on Saturday November 5 at the Dingo race track.
Join in the festivities from 3pm until late. All of the proceeds will go to Diabetes Queensland.
Kaitlin would like to thank Wesfarmers Curragh for their support.
"They have been very generous and helped support the day.”
