Gemmies call it quits in Bluff

GEMFIELDS Giants were forced to cancel their match against Bluff Rabbitohs after a serious arm injury to one their players.

Taking the field with only the bare minimum of nine players, the Rabbitohs posted two quick tries before the injury occurred 10 minutes into the first half.

Now down to eight players and with an empty reserve bench, Gemfields was forced by the rulebook to cancel the game.

Gemfields president Mark Maguire said no-one could have predicted an injury of that nature to occur.

“We didn’t want to go with only nine blokes but that’s what we got on the night.”
