Ginger ninjas lucky escape

ONE-BY-ONE six tiny ginger kittens were pulled out of a drain in an adorable rescue in Emerald on Thursday.

With help from the council, Sally Hutley and Brooke Quinlan of CQ Pet Rescue retrieved the kittens after receiving a call from a concerned passer-by who spotted the cats in a drain.

"Knowing that there was rain predicted for the next day we thought that we had better check it out," Sally said.

"The kittens are in perfect condition. There are no fleas or anything, no hissing.

"They are very tame and are freaking adorable."

The kittens will be in foster care for about two weeks where they will be checked by a vet, before being re-homed.

HIDING: The kittens’ mother bolted from the drain.
