Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast - Kiwis say it's no contest
KIWIS have been told to forget the Gold Coast in favour of holidaying on the Sunshine Coast in a New Zealand Herald article that doesn't mince it words.
Writer Jenny Hewett told the Herald's readers the Gold Coast "might have the cheesy thrills but the Sunshine Coast is home to some far more enticing attractions".
She then went on to list everything from the relatively unpopulated state of our beaches to the quality of the region's seafood and fresh produce.
"Don't get us wrong,'' Ms Hewett wrote.
"It's not that the Gold Coast is a waste of time - but rather that something better lurks beyond it.
"If you've ever been to Broadbeach on a busy day you'll know why locals on the Sunny Coast have the last laugh."
The praise comes as New Zealand holiday makers to the region jumped 8% in the year to June 30.
