Golf course not for sale, says club manager

THE Nambour golf course is not for sale.

Sunshine Coast observers have raised interest in what they believed was the pending sale of the course.

However, club secretary-manager Steve McMahon told the Daily that was not the case.

"We looked at moving years ago and that's been looked at again, but it won't come to fruition for various reasons," Mr McMahon (pictured) said.

"You can't redevelop the land anyway, because it's so close to the quarry."

Mr McMahon said he understood the site was within the 1km development exclusion zone from blasting at the nearby Parkland Blue Metal quarry.

Mr McMahon said the club regularly held golf events that were sponsored by Nambour real estate agents, who erected signs on site as part of the sponsorship deal.

"Sometimes we have real estate signs up here, but a real estate company has sponsored the weekend," he said.

"That sometimes gives people the impression it's for sale."

Attempts to seek comment from Parkland Blue Metal about the quarry's future were unsuccessful.
