Good weekend for Melbourne

IT WAS a good weekend for Melbourne football fans as both Victory and Heart recorded wins in the A-League.

Heart took home the points with a 2-1 win over Glory in Perth on Saturday and Victory sealed the double with a 3-1 triumph against Wellington at AAMI Park on Sunday.

Mate Dugandzic and Matt Thompson were on target for Heart and that result sees them sitting third in the A-League standings.

Victory are in fifth place thanks to goals from Archie Thompson, Diogo Ferreira and a deflected own-goal from Vince Lia.

Elsewhere there were wins for Sydney FC, Central Coast Mariners and Gold Coast United.
